FastBraces®-Orthodontics in Westmont

Dr. Kathryn Kennedy in Westmont, Illinois provides both general dentistry as well as comprehensive orthodontics. After providing orthodontic services for many years, Dr. Kennedy found that one of the major motivators for getting braces for young adults was crowding in the front six teeth. Because of that, she took courses in a process called FastBraces®. By focusing primarily on making sure the front six upper and lower teeth are in alignment, we can shorten the time needed to accomplish significant esthetic changes for our patients.

Whether you are a teenager or an adult looking to straighten your teeth but don’t want to have two to three years of braces, this affordable technology may be right for you! Most patients are surprised at what can happen in under 120 days to radically improve their smile. This patented process works with clear or metal brackets and one thin nickel-titanium wire. This means fewer visits and faster results than traditional braces.

Certain circumstances require the back teeth to be properly aligned in order to maintain a stable bite and straight front teeth. Often, it could be from oral habits such as tongue thrust, thumb sucking, or biting on hard items over time. Generally speaking, both the upper and the lower teeth need to be rotated or straightened at the same time to help keep each other in line

WHAT IS FASTBRACES® TECHNOLOGY?
This process works by utilizing a square wire that torques the roots of the teeth to be in proper alignment with the crown of the teeth. Having the roots upright will help with allowing a more stable and straight position for the teeth. This relatively new technology allows orthodontic movement to straighten teeth in shorter time frame than traditional orthodontics and in a somewhat reduced price. The great news is that it produces these results without cutting any corner just to speed up the process.

In some cases, we have been able to achieve visible results in as little as four months, although we suggest six to ten months may be needed in more severe cases. Moving teeth too quickly can cause other problems such as bone loss and gum recession, therefore, we only move teeth at a pace that the bone can reform as the teeth are moving in the jaw

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF FASTBRACES®?
FastBraces® is a brand name for a method of straightening teeth. The reason FastBraces® works so well, is that it encourages bodily movement of the teeth AND the roots at the same time, rather than simply moving or tilting just the top of the teeth. This is a fast treatment; it is safe and comfortable and it’s more affordable than other methods of straightening teeth!

HOW LONG DOES FASTBRACES® TAKE?
The process depends on the severity of teeth crowding and the age of the patient. Most cases take less than one year with some taking a little as four months.

IS FASTBRACES® COVERED BY MY DENTAL INSURANCE?
If your dental plan covers orthodontics, then it would be a covered benefit. It doesn’t matter which method of braces or aligners you use, it’s more the resulting treatment and the necessity of the treatment that the insurance companies are concerned with.

CAN THIS PROCESS WORK FOR ADULTS?
Yes, many of our patients who chose this method of teeth straightening are adults. In fact, because it is typically shorter than traditional braces, it means less time you will have metal on your teeth.
